Nice of you to drop in! Make yourself at home while we will introduce ourselves. We are a young Dutch couple living in Amsterdam. Erik is a physicist, and currently doing a PhD research into fusion energy at the Dutch FOM-institution Rijnhuizen. Mariska is a marine environmental biologist, and is currently studying to get her first degree teachers diploma. To gain some experience, she is teaching biology at the St. Michael college, a secondary school in Zaandam. She is also working two days a week at the centre for international cooperation on tertiary education in developing countries of the Free University, the CDCS/CIS.

This website was first set up when we were sent out to Ghana by the Britisch organisation VSO in February 2000. We have been working there for two years as science teachers, and the World Wide Web seemed a good way of keeping our family and friends in the Netherlands updated. But our stories could also be of interest to people all around the world planning to work in a developing country, or anyone fascinated by non-western cultures.

Since we got an excuse for the existence of this website, we feel free to connect a lot of the fun-but-useless stuff about our personal interests, hobbies, opinions and lifestyle to this page. Free for anyone to read, free for anyone to forget. Find out if it's of any use to you...

Thanx for visiting our Home and enjoy your stay!
